# Search & filters

> Find the right AI tool fast using FutureStack's search and filter system.

FutureStack has two ways to narrow down tools: search and filters. You can use them together.

## Search

The search bar is in the top navbar on every page. Press Cmd+K (Mac) or Ctrl+K (Windows) to open it from anywhere.

Search works across tool names, descriptions, and categories. Try queries like:

* `image generator`
* `coding assistant free`
* `voice cloning`
* `open source LLM`

Results appear as you type with a 300ms delay. Press Enter to go to the full search results page at `/search?q=your-query`, which you can bookmark or share.

## Filters

Filters live in the left sidebar on the homepage and in the filter bar on the Discover page. You can combine multiple filters at once.

**Category**, narrows by the primary type of AI the tool uses. Examples: Writing, Coding, Image Generation, Video, Audio, Productivity, Marketing, Data.

**Role**, narrows by who the tool is for. Examples: Developers, Students, Marketers, Designers, Creators, Entrepreneurs.

**Pricing**, narrows by pricing tier. Options: Free, Freemium, Paid, Free Trial.

**Platform**, narrows by where the tool runs. Options: Web, iOS, Android, API, Chrome Extension.

All filters use AND logic. Selecting Free and Developers shows only tools that are both free and tagged for developers.

## Active filters

When a filter is active, it appears as an orange pill below the filter bar. Click the X on any pill to remove that filter. Active filters also update the URL so you can share or bookmark a filtered view.

<Tip>
  Start with the Role filter. It is the fastest way to cut through hundreds of tools and see only what is relevant to your work.
